Flat Feet

Flat Feet

If the arches of your feet lie flat against the flood when you stand, you likely have flat feet. This condition isn’t necessarily something you need to worry about. In fact, many people live perfectly comfortably with flat feet. However, some are unfortunate enough to experience regular bouts of pain due to this condition.

Custom orthotics are the primary means of addressing this condition. Unlike over-the-counter insoles, our insoles are designed for the form of your feet in particular. These orthotics offer exceptional support that’s perfectly tailored to your unique needs. Get in touch with LePoer Podiatry to learn more today.

What Are Flat Feet?

Flat feet, sometimes called “pesplanus,” usually develop with pronation, which means your ankle bones turn inward. Pronation is especially common in children. When adults develop this condition, it may be connected to an underlying disease or injury. While this condition can usually be self-diagnosed, the underlying cause may require investigation by your podiatrist.

Here at LePoer Podiatry, our doctors can perform a visual exam and imaging tests to evaluate the structure of your feet. She can check your leg and foot movement by having you stand on your toes and perform other basic motions as well. Sometimes a hands-on examination may be needed to check your tendons and muscles.

What Are the Treatment Options?

Here at our Providence office, we provide custom orthotics for treating flat feet. Custom orthotics are specially-made insoles designed to support and comfort your feet. Prescription orthotics are crafted for you and no one else. They match the contours of your feet precisely and are designed for the way you move. If you are experiencing pain when walking, these insoles can prove especially helpful.
